Seeing life in color from the beginning

Passion for Home Design
Hi, I’m Sarah, the owner of Distracted Damsel Design! Like many in the design world, I grew up hands-on—helping my dad lay pavers, tearing out cabinets for my mom’s kitchen remodel, and constantly transforming my own space. I was always chasing the next project, never stuck on just one thing, which is exactly why my brand is called Distracted Damsel—I thrive on exploring new trends, creative ideas, and endless possibilities. My love for design led me to earn two degrees in Interior Design and one in Business, all while working in the industry. Now, I get to channel that passion into helping others create spaces they love!
Working in Design
I’ve been lucky to work in both residential and commercial design, gaining experience in everything from high-rise architecture to custom kitchens. As an intern at a major architectural firm, I worked on The City Center Project on the Las Vegas Strip, where I saw firsthand how every tiny detail—textiles, floor plans, even full-size hotel room mockups—shapes a design. Later, I shifted to the homeowner side, helping clients with furniture selections, flooring, and kitchen design, eventually specializing in high-end cabinetry for multi-million-dollar homes. No matter the project, one thing always tied everything together—a perfectly curated color palette.
Finding My Specialty
After working in various roles, I quickly realized that color was my true expertise. While helping customers in a paint showroom, I often explained why a color looked perfect in the store but felt off at home. That led to in-home consultations, where I could see the space firsthand and help clients make the right selections. I loved these conversations and the chance to experience so many different projects, and soon, I was helping clients all across the valley—many of whom became repeat customers.
I knew I could do more than what was possible working under someone else, so I took the leap and started my own color consultation business. While figuring things out, I also launched a blog—initially as a creative outlet, but it soon became a true design resource. Now, I focus on working with contractors, designers, and homeowners to bring intentional, beautiful color choices into every project. My goal is to help people create spaces that truly reflect their style and personality, making sure every room gives off just the right vibe. I’d love the opportunity to bring color into your space and help make your vision a reality!
Thank you,
Sarah Woodward
